Day 2 of the Havoc in the Heartland got me up early to watch some basketball. I checked out 4 Illinois based teams today, with the teams facing off against each other. This is what I saw!

Lituanica Basketball Academy vs Next Level 24

Matas Peczulis (Hinsdale South) - Matas plays the game with a lot of swagger. Smooth and has a good frame. Showed he could knock the down the 3, with his sweet stroke, and was aggressive attacking the offensive glass for putbacks.

Klaidas Paskauskas (Lemont) - The 5'11 guard was a threat from 3 all game long. Has a quick release and smooth jumper. Had a nice take to the rim as well.

Gytis Neverauskas (Downers Grove North) - At 6'5 Gytis was able to control the paint throughout the game as the other team had no size. He grabbed rebounds, finished well around the basket, and showed ability to hit the open man.

Bernard McHerron Jr (Tinley Park) - McHerron was the only thing going well for Next Level in this one. He constantly got the ball to the paint and finished through contact. Has good strength, which he utilizes in the paint.

M14 National 1 vs Mike Glennon Elite 2026

Joe Niego (Brother Rice) - Niego comes from a family of shooters and will continue that for the coming years. He has all the capabilities to be a big time player, and maybe even a contributor to the varisty this year. He's already 6'5, can score from anywhere on the court and is solid on defense.

Ryan Lawlor (Marist) - Lawlor was smooth all game long. The 6'1 guard made open 3s and got to the basket to finsh or kick out to open teammates.

Gavin Belli (St Charles East) - Belli is a prospect to note in the 2026 class as well. He's a wiry wing who attacks the rim and plays well in transition. Good size, speed, and body control.
