The second session of the Prep Hoops Top 250 showcase took place yesterday. This event was a great warmup for me to get started again to bring you guys some perspective on the talent all around Illinois for this upcoming season. Thanks to Prep Hoops for approving my media request for this amazing event. This is what I captured throughout the day!

Sebastian Hill (Macon Meridian)

If there was an MVP award given out for this showcase, Hill would be the front runner for sure. The senior combo guard shot the lights out, knocking down three after three after three. With his size and length he excels at being a lockdown defender. His frame and feel for the game has attracted many college coaches throughout the summer and fall!

Brent Taylor (Lincoln Way East)

Taylor jumped onto the scene this summer after some nice showings during live periods. Yesterday he showed his athleticism in the open floor, able to finish over and around the rim. Starting to show consistency from the outside as well. The 2025 shooting guard is an exciting player to watch with his sneaky bounce!

Maddox Shepherd (Montini)

Shepherd's name is now in the air after his performance at the showcase. The 2024 stocky point guard showed confidence shooting the ball from distance off the dribble. He also mixed it up on the defensive end, earning steals, and taking it the other way for layups. Good handle and elevation on his shot!

Chris Tacher (Elgin Academy)

Tacher, a 2025 guard had an eye opening day at the showcase. Scores from all three levels, competes on defense, and is uber athletic, having multiple dunks on the day. A new name for me, college coaches should start to keep a tab on him!

Jalen Crues (Glenbard North)

Crues immediately sticks out at 6'7, but also sticks out with his activity on both ends. The 2024 big man is a solid rebounder on both ends of the floor and showed good slashing ability from the perimeter. Will be a steal for small college program!

Aiden Sims (Oswego East)

The 2024 combo guard caught eyes early in the game I saw with good footwork and composure getting to the basket. Crafty guard with solid handle and change of pace!

Top Players I Didn't See:

Cameron Thomas (Mount Carmel)

Dominic Pangallo (Homewood Flossmoor)

Daniel Loza (Lake View)
