Aau is back starting with two great Chicago events. I decided to check out the Prep Hoops Sunmer Challenge instead of the Summer Showcase at the Supreme Courts. I got to see most of the Illinois aau teams from 15 to 17 u. Here's what I captured from pools A-B for 17u!

Greator Purpose
Mitch Humphrey (St. Viator) - The sharpshooting wing had some amazing performances this weekend. He averaged 18.5 points per game shooting 58% from the 3. He stands at 6'6, moves well without the ball, and utilizes the pump fake when defenders are running out at him. Humphrey is going to have a big July!
Camden Cerese (Lake Park) - The pure scorer from Lake Park showed his ability this weekend. Excels driving the lane for layups or stopping on a dime and pulling up for a jumper. Cerese has proved he's a willing playmaker. Since he is ball dominant, he has improved on getting others involved. Scored 16 points in the win over Mac Irvin Fire Eybl!
Darshan Thomas (Marist) - First tournament with Greator Purpose, and he fitted right in. He can score from all 3 levels, but is best at the rim. Great touch and athleticism around the rim. He can defend multiple positions which is always a check mark for college coaches. He scored 13 points against Mac Irvin!
Mac Irvin Fire EYBL
Ahmere Carson (Skyline Prep) - The strong bodied lead guard has been in and out of the state for years, but has always played aau in state, this year with Mac Irvin. He scores the ball with ease from all levels, smooth lefty with tight handle, and good change of pace. D2s and low D1s should be monitoring his season at prep school this year!
Chris Riddle (Kenwood) - Riddle has been having a stellar summer. The 6'5 wing has been attacking the glass and the rim at a high level in June and now in July at the Prep Hoops Circuit. The athletics and capability to knock down the open three is attracting plenty of D1 coaches.
DeNard Bros Pro
Dekwon Brown (Simeon) - The shifty lead guard is as advertised. Brown never dissapoints and stays consistent with his play. Plays really well as a pick and roll ball handler, he can come off and shoot the 3, get to the basket, or hit the roll man. He's a great leader for his team and guards the oppposing teams best player. Going be a great pickup for any divison 1 program.
Falabomi Fayemi (South Kent) - The forward from Connecticut did everything on the court this weekend. He's uber athletic, using that on the defensive end to block shots at high rate and to finish at the basket. Plays with a load of energy and competes from start to finish. He also stepped out and hit a couple 3s. Fun player to watch.
CJ Worsham (Christ the King) - Worsham used his versatile play to help lead his team to a 4-0 weekend! Dominated in the post, at 6'7, he has good footwork and touch around the basket. He also knocked in some 3s, and brought the ball up sometimes initiating the offense. Underrated prospect in the 2024 class.
M14 Adidas Gold
CJ Savage (West Aurora) - The smooth guard was getting it done in the pick and roll. Savage was getting to the basket off the screen and finishing through contact. He's also a solid playmaker, reading the defense and finding open shooters. He's got the ball on a string and has good change of pace. Should be a small college priority!
Tre Blissett (Waubonsie Valley) - Blissett is a athletic wing that attacks mismatches. Since he's 6'5 he often is being guarded by bigs which can't guard him on the perimeter. He's really good at attacking the basket and finishing at the rim. He can hit the open 3 and is solid defensively!
Bryce Welch (Naperville North) - Welch has been having a solid summer. He can score from all levels, but is best at getting to the basket. He's quick, athletic, and springy at the rim. Good at pushing the ball up the floor and finding open teammates. Welch is one to watch to breakout this upcoming season!
All In Rodell Gold
Alex Daniels (Warren) - Another versatile wing in this class. Daniels has a nice inside-out game, able to punish defenders in the paint, and knock down catch and shoot 3s. The 6'5 Daniels also attacks the glass and blocks shots at a high rate!
Sam Lappin (Glenbrook North) - Lappin was solid all weekend as a scorer. Scores from all 3 levels, good at getting downhill and scoring at the rim. Can shoot the 3 on and off the dribble and runs the point for this talented All in team!
Jack Dabbs (Stevenson) - Dabbs impressed this weekend with shooting and playmaking at the forward position. Moves well with and without the ball always ready to catch and shoot. Recruitment should start to heat up for Jack!
Chicago Lockdown
Drew King (Joliet West) - King might of had the highlight of the weekend with the lob dunk over 6'10 Grantas Sakenis. King is a terrific rim runner, getting the rebound, outletting the ball, and finishing at the rim. Good footwork and touch around the basket and blocks shots on the defensive end. King put together a great weekend!
Connor Williams (Stagg) - Williams is a score first wing that can flat out shoot the ball from deep. Solid ball handler as well that helps him get into the midrange for some baskets at well. Ready to lead Stagg to a solid season!
DeShawn Nolan (Oak Forest) - Nolan was a nice boost off the bench for Lockdown. The lead guard plays with a great motor and has good speed on both ends of the floor. Uses that speed to score at the basket and get steals leading to transition scores. Controls the game in so many ways!
ET21 Buckeyes
Cale Cosme (Brother Rice) - Cosme continues to impress people with his deep shooting and playmaking abilities. Speedy guard with tight handle creates shots for himself behind the line. Pesty defender and always plays with energy. Should attract more D2s!
Corey Lee (Oak Lawn) - Lee is a combo guard who excels at attacking the basket. Strong frame helps him finish through contact. He has good body control and handle to get to the basket. Plays well in the pick and roll often as a scorer. Another D2 prospect for the Buckeys!
Ryan Runaas (Lemont) - The guard from Lemont showed his shooting ability from beyond the arc this weekend. Hit several catch and shoot 3s, as well as scoring at the basket, or getting to the line. Small college priority!
