Day 1 of the Prep Hoops Havoc in the Heartland tournament in Indianapolis was on full display, with a bunch of Illinois talent. Today I got to see two games, checking out Ronnie Fields Elite 2024 and M14 2025. Tomorrow I will be checking out more games, as long as Sunday!
Ronnie Fields Elite 2024:
Dominick Ducree (Fenwick) - The 2025 point guard was scoring all game long leading his team to a victory over Hopson Elite. Was explosive getting to the basket in isolations or off of screens, and knocked down 3s and pull up jumpers as well.
Simon Redfearn (York) - The unsigned senior can flat out shoot the ball from deep. Really smooth lefty, who is a good athlete. Would be a good get for a small college program looking for some last second additions.
Omar Kaakaji (Nazareth) - The 2024 combo guard was knocking down shots at timely times. Saw the confidence from 3 and mixed in a coupled midrange shots as well.
Matthew Callahan (Nazareth) - Callahan was solid playing up on the 17 u level as a 2025. The 6'7 forward dominated the glass and finished well inside. A prospect to note in the sophomore class.
M14 National 1 2025:
Christian Harrell (Yorkville) - Harrell got out to a really hot start to lead M14 to a blowout win over Hopson Elite. He got going from the 3, as catch and shoot, and then ran the floor for some easy layups in transition.
Auggie Hoffman (St Charles North) - Hoffman is another one of the many shooters for this team. He shot the ball from 3 really well in the first half. He plays with a great motor and enthusiasm for the game, showed leading capabilities.
Mitchell Erickson (Glenbard South) - The point guard for this well oiled team. Erickson was making plays for others all night long. Got to the basket and finished well around the rim and constantly made the right play.
Camden Vine (St Charles North) - Vine showed solid scoring at the basket and effectiveness on the defensive end. Solid frame and created for others.
Brady Goken (Wheaton Warrenville South) - Forward that rounds out this team. Good rebounder that can push himself and finish at the rim. Two sport athlete guy!
