My first peak at the new look St Rita team at the Kevin Brown Memorial Tournament of Champions. Yesterday they lost to Joliet West 62-56, but didn't let that disturb them in game 2.

It was a little bit of a slow start. Low scoring first half with James Brown and Morez Johnson in foul trouble. However, the mustangs got a huge contribution off the bench from Graham Lathan in the first half. Lathan attacked the rim a couple of times, one for a layup, and the other he got fouled and made both free throws. Also had a nice pull up jumper. He finished the game with 6 points and key minutes.

James Brown didn't put on a scoring clinic, but did all the dirty work. He took a charge, blocked shots, and grabbed a ton of rebounds. In my opinion, he should've had 2 charges but it was called a blocking foul. He finished with 10 points.

The 3rd quarter was all Lemont transfer Nojus Indrusaitis (17 points). Nojus hit 3's and slashed well from the baseline and finished at the basket. He played so smooth and found his teammates as well for some easy baskets.

Then, the 4th quarter was dominated by the Illinois commit Morez Johnson. He took over the game with strong takes and bully ball in the paint for tough baskets and made his free throws. He also knocked down some midrange, fadeaways, and a top of the key 3. Rez looks taller and stronger form last year which makes him even more impressive. He finished with a game high 20 points.

Lanier a talented team from Georgia gave them a scare through 3 quarters. Their leading scorers were Jayce Nathaniel 15, Osmar Garcia 12, and Landon Suarez 9.
