Lincoln Park got their first win of the season this morning 64-45 over Moss Point, a team from Mississippi. It looked like Lincoln Park got everybody in for key minutes. Their depth is what led them to a big win, they played well together and had balanced scoring.

The first quarter was a show, performed by their talented guards 2024 Semaje Howard and 2023 Myan Whitfield. They are both quick guards who use their speed to get to the basket and finish through contact. They both have terrific motors, who can also shoot the 3. Howard finished with 6 points and Whitfield finished with 12.

The tremendous athlecism, defense, and work ethic from these 3 players, Richmond Opoku-Ware, Brandon Turner, and Vincent Kelly are a big reason for their win. Opoku-Ware had a big highlight reel dunk, that got everybody up on their feet. He's a 6'4 wing who is uber athletic and is always around the basket for easy baskets. Kelly is only a sophomore but played like a senior. He took care of the ball, made open shots, and came up with a lot of steals. He plays with good passion and will be a special player in the next couple of years. Turner had an impressive block and reverse layups, he's a guard who pressures the ball on defense and always makes the right play. Opoku-Ware finished with 14, Vincent Kelly finished with 7, and Brandon Turner finished with 2.

But it was the bigs I was most impressed with, 2025 Keyshawn Barfield (14 points) and 2023 Dakari Durham (7 points). Barfield was an absolute beast in the paint, he was aggressive on the boards, active on defense, and was powerful in the post. Durham was smooth all day, had a nice spin move to finish at the basket, also a nice post presence for the Lions.

It was a big day for senior Kedrick Osby who finished with 25 points. He attacked the basket for finishes and got to the free throw line a lot. He's 6’8, long, athletic, he's got all the physical tools to translate to the next level. He has 2 division 1 offers, one from Mississippi State, and they will go up from here.
