2nd day of the Jack Tosh tournament took place on Tuesday, this time with a winners and losers bracket. I covered all the games in the winners bracket, and I will do the same for the next couple of days. This is what I saw today!
Richard Barron drives St Ignatius past Naperville North:
Naperville North gave #9 St Ignatius a scare in the first winners bracket game of the day. Ignatius won 49-40, behind George Mason commit Richard Barron. Barron put up 15 points, with his smooth shot and uses his strong frame to get him to the basket. Got help from 2025 Phoenix Gill and 2024 Reggie Ray once again, Gill with 13 and Ray with 9. Nice to see 5 star DL Justin Scott being affective on the basketball court. Skilled 5 man who can score in the paint, rebound, and is a good passer out of post.
Naperville North was led by 2024 Luke Williams , who had an impressive performance with 25 points. Williams has always been a standout on the football field, and now is having a breakout season on the basketball court.
Riverside Brookfield tops Lake Forest 54-49:
My first look at both teams this year, Riverside Brookfield with 3 top prospects and Lake Forest with Clemson commit. RB was led by Notre Dame transfer 6'11 C Stefan Cicic. Cicic scored 13 points, he can do it all, score in the post, score from 3, rebound, and is a good passer. Definitely a name to track in the class of 2024. Winona state commit Arius Alijosius continues to prove why he's one of the best if not the best shooter in the state. Smooth lefty shot, plays with a good motor. The other prospect to know is 2024 Will Gonzalez. Good size for a point guard, finds his teammates, and scores from all levels, finished with 11.
Lake Forest was led by a new name for me 2024 Tommie Aberle. The intriguing combo guard plays with a lot of energy, scored 22 points, can score from inside and out, and is a rebounding machine, had 11. Clemson commit Asa Thomas put up 16 points, with size as a guard, can get his smooth shot over smaller defenders, making 4 threes.
Lemont still rolling, survive Conant with made free throws:
Lemont still undefeated, siting at 12-0. They defeated Conant 42-39. It was a great start and day for Matas Castillo. Started out hitting open 3s, then mixed in drives for acrobatic layups. Finished with 17 points. His brother Rokas Castillo put up 15 points, came up clutch at the end of the game hitting key free throws. Key threes were hit by 2023 Connor Murray and 2024 Ryan Runaas. The Castillo twins combined for 32 of Lemont's 42 points.
Conant were led by the 2024 duo of Camden Lathos and Yusuf Cisse. Lathos is a good shooter from deep, has size, showed good post position. Cisse is a point guard who gets to the basket and finishes and finds open teammates.
Bolingbrook with a solid win over the hosts York:
The raiders won this one 68-59, behind their division 1 recruit Mekhi Cooper. He put up 18 points, showcasing his deadeye shooting and tight handles. Plays a good pace, just a solid point guard. Another good showing from Aries Hull, a forward college coaches should be on. The 6'8 forward put up 14 points, just dominates in the paint. The Brook are finally back healthy and are looking scary.
For York, a combo guard everybody has been impressed with for a couple of years now is 2024 AJ Levine. Just plays with great energy, can score from all 3 levels, play defense, high level athlete, scored 18 points.
