The 48th annual Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament, hosted by York was on full display Monday. Some great, competitive games, can't wait to see the next following days. This was what stood out to me in the games I saw.
St Ignatius dominates Minooka in tournament opener:
This was never really a game. Ignatius dominated all throughout this game, thanks to a fast start from Phoenix Gill. The 2025 rising star, gets better each time I see him. On Monday, he finished with 16 points, mostly in transition off of steals. Long arms, anticipation, and work ethic make him a great defender. In the back court was another impressive guard in 2024 Reggie Ray. All around scorer, with nice frame for a guard. Added 12 points. These two will be a top duo next year in the CCL. Miami (OH) commit Jackson Kotecki did his work in the paint for the Wolfpack. Does good job on offensive glass leading to putbacks, and nice post position. He also had 12 points in the win.
Three 2024 Guards help Naperville North hold off Glenbard West:
Everybody knew that this was going to be one of the most competitive first round matchups, and it was. Naperville North ended up winning 49-44. Luke Williams a guard and a four star Wr led the huskies with 18 points. He controls the game, with his strong handle, vision, and great decision making. Good slasher and transition scorer. Was really impressed with Bryce Welch as well. Had a nice showing this summer with M14 and is carrying it over to the winter. Can really shoot it from deep and has a nice floater, was top scorer throughout the game, finished with 16. While Cole Arl added 10.
For the Hilltoppers, not the outcome they aspected after winning the whole tournament last year, but will try to win the constalation this year. The 1-3-1 still causes a lot of problems for an offense, and still have some offensive threats. Haverford commit Logan Brown had a nice showing. Has good size and strength as a wing, helps him finish at the basket. While 2025 Dominic Seaney showed his ability from the 3 point line, definitely a wing to know in the sophomore class. Both finished with 12.
Rolling Meadows proves why they're the #1 seed:
Rolling Meadows beat Montini 72-43. Had multiple contirbutions, but the Mustangs have they're two big time prospects. Obviously one with Minnesota commit Cameron Christie. Christie a 6'6 point guard with an unstoppable offensive game. Just knows how to get to his spots, and knocks down shots. He finished with 26. The other prospect is underrated 2023 forward Mark Nikolich-Wilson. At 6'7, he can can handle it, pass it, and score it. Remindes me a lot of Jokic with his skill. He added 16. Other scorers to note, Foster Ogbonna 8 and Ian Miletic 9.
St Patrick gets an impressive win over Glenbard North:
St Patrick in my opinion was always an underrated team in the state. Have a solid team, with a lot of good players to track. One is unsigned 2023 Andrew Ayeni who had 20 points. Strong frame, can score from all 3 levels, and a solid defender. 2025 PG EJ Breland had 12 points, has grown from last year, and is still the sniper from deep. St Patrick won 64-52.
For Glenbard North, JJ Hernandez a 2024 wing showed why he's a top junior in his class. Dealt with foul trouble but still managed to put up 10 points, scored from all 3 levels. But, who really had it going was a new name for me 2026 Josh
Abushanab. Has good size and length, showing his capability on defense. Offensively a good finisher and can knock down the 3. Will definitely keep an eye on him.
Castillo Twins keep Lemont undefeated:
Lemont stays undefeated with a 37-28 win over Downers Grove South. Not the best showing from Lemont, but still found a way to win. Rokas Castillo had 15 and Matas Castillo had 10. Rokas can shoot it and Matas is crafty finishing at the basket.
Camden Lathos (Conant) - The 2024 wing has good size, can shoot the 3, and is really good in the midrange. He had 16 points in the win over Andrew.
Aries Hull (Bolingbrook) - Transferred back into the state, and is dominating the paint. Plays bully ball finishing through contact and is a rebounding machine. Hull finished with 17 in the win over Highland Park.
Alex Keizer (Timothy Christian) - Keizer the wing shooter, got hot in the second half in the win over Stagg, leading to 18 points for him.
