Brother Rice defeated St Francis De Sales with a final score of 72-48 on Saturday afternoon in a conference matchup. Brother Rice showed why they're the #6 team in state with their depth, ball movement, and team defense. These are my notes from the game!
Khalil Ross X Zavier Fitch will be tough to handle:
Khalil Ross a senior with two division one offers and Zavier Fitch a junior who emerged over the summer with Y&R, are a powerful paint duo on both ends of the floor. They both stand at 6'7. They hauled in rebounds, blocked shots, and finished through contact in the win. They are both versatile, saw Fitch grab a rebound, push the ball in transition, and throw a nice bounce pass to Tre Dowdell for a layup, and saw Ross get multiple steals pressuring the ball and take it to the rim. Will be tough to guard and score on in the Catholic league.
Brandon Lowe is an Under the Radar prospect in the 2023 class:
Haven't heard much about Brandon Lowe until this year, when he transferred into St Francis De Sales. He's a 6'6 wing who can score from all 3 levels. Today he was best from 3, knocked down several, mainly catch and shoot. He also showed potential as a passer and on defense. He finished with 19 points, can see multiple Jucos and Naia's contacting and offering him.
Brother Rice's backcourt is deep:
The crusaders back court includes Ahmad Henderson, Tre Dowdell, Peter McShane, Marcos Gonzales, and Cale Cosme. The starters are Henderson, McShane, and Dowdell. Ahmad is a Niagara commit, who had 3 straight baskets, back to back pull up jumpers, and a crossover between the defenders legs, and a acrobatic finish. Dowdell, McShane, and Gonzales got going off of steals leading to transition baskets and can knock down the 3. And last but not least Cosme. He was all over the place, handling the ball, knocking down shots, hitting open teammates, and played the help line well. These guys are all winners and are the heart and soul of this team.
