A lot of the same names were thrown around this AAU season, so I wanted to give recognition to those who got it done at a high level but didn’t get the same notice from scouts. These following prospects are guys who should be getting a lot more recognition.
Aaron Brown (M14 Adidas Gold)
There’s a lot to like about the 6’5 small forward out of Romeoville. One of the best rebounders in the state, boxes out well, and explodes up for the rebound. Can defend multiple positions and hustles for every loose ball. Good slasher and finishes through contact, has improved his perimeter skill over the season. Good pickup for small colleges.
Andrew Soenksen (Illinois Twolves)
Soenksen is a high level rim protector. Blocks shots and challenges shots along with getting steals on the perimeter. Versatile offensively, at 6’8 knocks down 3s as long with a variety of different finishes at the rim. The Plainfield East forward stock has risen tremendously this year.
Collin Wainscott (Illinois Stars)
Wainscott is a 6’2 guard out of Marmion Academy who absolutely lights it up from beyond the arc. Shifty guard who uses his speed to get to the paint to finish or kick to others. 3 level scoring guard that should have a breakout season with Marmion.
Leirre Collier (Chicago Lockdown)
Collier was impressive all season with his 2 way play. Offensively could score from all 3 levels, and defensively pressured the ball for steals leading to transition buckets. Recent transfer from Marist to Bloom.
Simon Weisserman (Illinois Attack)
Weisserman is a 6’7 forward that has a nice inside out game. Good footwork and touch in the paint and a smooth 3pt shoot. The Lake Forest Acadmey standout is primed for a breakout season.
